Paralegals work autonomously to advocate for clients in provincial offences court regarding traffic violations, municipal by-law disputes, liquor licensing matters, workplace safety concerns, and small claims court cases. They also appear before the Ontario Court of Justice for minor criminal charges or participate in tribunal hearings including those at the Workplace Safety and Insurance Appeals Tribunal, Human Rights Commission, and Landlord and Tenant Board. In Ontario, these licensed non-lawyer professionals offer fee-based legal services within defined practice areas to the public.
