The Master of Gender Studies program provides an advanced academic platform for analyzing how gender influences personal identities, social dynamics, and global systems. Participants will engage with theoretical models that explore power structures and their transformation through the intersection of gender with race, class, sexuality, age, ability, and national identity.
Three distinct pathways to degree completion are available: thesis, project, or internship. Memorial University stands unique in Canada by offering internship-based degree fulfillment.
This graduate program responds to the growing demand for sophisticated analyses of women's roles and gender dynamics across societies. Study areas encompass diverse subjects from personal narratives to institutional frameworks, literary works to historical developments, with opportunities to design equality-focused interventions. The degree offers flexible study options, including full-time or part-time enrollment, with thesis (traditional or portfolio) or internship completion paths. Students benefit from interdisciplinary faculty expertise across multiple academic fields.
