The English Department consists of 23 dedicated full-time faculty members who form a vibrant academic community, actively involved in research, graduate mentorship, and publishing both scholarly works and creative pieces.
Ten specialized research clusters highlight key areas of expertise, helping you identify faculty working in these fields: American, Canadian, Colonial and Postcolonial, Creative Writing, Eighteenth and Nineteenth Century Studies, Environmental and Energy Humanities, Medieval and Early Modern Studies, Newfoundland and Labrador Studies, North Atlantic Studies, and Visual Narrative Studies. This wide-ranging expertise creates a stimulating and collaborative research atmosphere for everyone in the Department, from professors to students.
MA Program – Students can choose between a coursework path (completed in one year of full-time study) or a thesis track (typically finished in two years).
