Over its 50+ year history, Memorial's Folklore Department has established global recognition as a dynamic, creative, diverse, and exceptionally professional academic unit. Fieldwork in ethnographic research forms the cornerstone of folklore education. Graduate students benefit from outstanding library and archival resources, including access to the Folklore and Language Archive and the Research Centre for the Study of Music, Media, and Place.
PhD Program – The doctoral curriculum includes coursework, comprehensive examinations, and dissertation research, typically achievable within four years of full-time enrollment.
