The Psychology Department consists of around 30 faculty members and 60 graduate students. Our faculty lead dynamic research initiatives across various psychological fields, often involving community volunteers. Psychology also participates in the interdisciplinary Cognitive and Behavioural Ecology (CABE) program, which provides both M.Sc. and Ph.D. degrees. Prospective students must submit their applications directly to the CABE program.
The Behavioural Neuroscience team explores how neural processes and structures influence behavior, with particular emphasis on studying connections between behavioral shifts and limbic system changes (limbic plasticity).
Current faculty research focuses on: neural mechanisms of PTSD using predator stress models; regulation of brain stem startle responses; activity-based anorexia in rodents; hippocampal changes related to learning; effects of sex hormones on brain development and behavior; and neurological foundations of spatial learning and memory.
