The Division of Community Health & Humanities within the Faculty of Medicine oversees the Clinical Epidemiology graduate program, providing options for a Graduate Diploma (Clinical Epidemiology), Master of Science (MSc), or Doctor of Philosophy (PhD). These programs cater to university graduates pursuing careers in health services, faculty members seeking specialized training in clinical epidemiology, and healthcare professionals focused on healthcare delivery research. Students enhance their clinical research expertise through coursework, seminars, research projects, and thesis development for MSc and PhD candidates.
The Faculty of Medicine offers additional resources including a visiting speaker series, teaching assistant positions, internal funding opportunities, administrative support, and a dedicated Office of Research & Graduate Studies for medical graduate students. The Health Sciences Library, situated in the Health Sciences Centre, is conveniently located near the Faculty of Medicine.
PhD – This thesis-based program typically spans four years of full-time study. Admitted students who meet academic standards and maintain full-time enrollment receive a guaranteed stipend for four years. Coursework is usually completed within the initial 1-2 years, with the remaining time devoted to thesis research. All PhD candidates must pass comprehensive exams by their seventh semester.
