The creative writing diploma program focuses on enhancing students' abilities across various literary forms typically categorized as "creative," including fiction, poetry, plays, and creative nonfiction. You'll have the chance to enroll in elective courses that explore modern works within these genres. This program is designed to guide you in creating publishable-quality pieces. Accordingly, creative writing classes will concentrate on crafting, evaluating, and refining your original work, while both writing and literature courses will examine outstanding examples of current writing.
Duration: 8 courses (24 credits)
Prospective students should be aware that entry into specific creative writing courses is selective and determined through portfolio submissions.

Qualification Requirements
Applicants shall have completed the requirements for a recognized high school diploma or equivalent.
English Language Requirements:
Duolingo English Test (DET) - A minimum score of 115.
IELTS - A minimum overall band score of 6.5, with at least a band 6 in reading and writing. General training results are not acceptable.
TOEFL - For admission to winter (Jan) 2025 and later: A minimum score of 83 on the TOEFL iBT or TOEFL iBT Home Edition, with a minimum score of 20 in reading and writing; For admission to fall (Sept) 2024 and earlier: A minimum score of 79 on the TOEFL iBT or TOEFL iBT Home Edition, with a minimum score of 20 in reading and writing, and not less than 17 in listening and speaking.
Canadian Academic English Language (CAEL) Assessment: For admission to winter (Jan) 2025 and later: A minimum overall score of 60; For admission to fall (Sept) 2024 and earlier: Minimum band scores between 50 and 60 in each of the four skills tested (reading, writing, listening and speaking), with at least two band scores of 60.
PTE Academic: A minimum score of 58 (fall (Sept) 2024); A minimum overall score of 60 ((Jan) 2025 and later).
Cambridge Assessment English: A minimum score of 176 in C1 Advanced or C2 Proficiency.
Michigan English Test (MET) - A minimum score of 59 is required on the MELAB.
