The School of Social Work provides two distinct undergraduate social work options:
bachelor of social work (as a primary degree)
bachelor of social work (as an additional degree)
The primary degree takes four years of full-time study, while the additional degree spans four semesters. Classes take place at the St. John's campus, with practical training occurring at two internship locations across the province.
Blending academic coursework with two field placements, the bachelor of social work (BSW) programs focus on social justice through experiential education. Students develop skills in assessment, interviewing, counseling, advocacy, and community development.
Duration:
primary degree: 4 years (1 year of preparatory study + 3 years in the program)
additional degree: 2 years
Fieldwork: Two 350-hour practicum placements
