The field of Earth sciences covers all scientific research concerning our planet's formation and evolution, from analyzing surface rock and soil composition to studying tectonic plate movements and deep-Earth material properties. While fieldwork remains crucial, modern geoscientists increasingly rely on advanced tools like ocean drilling ships, satellite data, sophisticated geochemical and geophysical equipment, and cutting-edge electronic and laser microscopy.
Numerous employers recruit our students each year for both seasonal and full-time roles, with many graduates pursuing careers as professional geoscientists.
Beyond standalone major, minor, and honors programs in Earth sciences, we offer combined degrees in:
Biology-Earth Sciences (B.Sc. honors)
Chemistry-Earth Sciences (B.Sc. honors)
Earth Sciences-Geography (B.Sc. honors)
Earth Sciences-Physics (B.Sc. major and honors)
Geophysics-Physical Oceanography (B.Sc. honors)
