Students pursuing a Master's degree can choose among three pathways: the Research Program (M.A.Sc.), the course and project-based M.Eng., or the specialized M.Eng. in Electrical and Biomedical Engineering. This program accepts graduates who achieved at least a B average annually during their B.Eng. in Electrical and Biomedical Engineering at McMaster University. The curriculum spans at least three consecutive terms, during which candidates must complete six graduate half-courses (or equivalent), including a minimum of four 700-level courses and up to two approved 600-level departmental courses, culminating in an independent study term. Eligible 600-level courses that may count toward graduate credit during the fourth undergraduate year include ECE 6BC3, ECE 6BD4, ECE 6BF3, ECE 6CL4, ECE 6TL4, and ECE 6TN4. Upon completing their final term, candidates must present and defend a project report demonstrating their capacity for independent research and satisfactory conclusions in biomedical engineering. The School of Engineering and Applied Sciences encompasses McMaster Engineering's seven premier academic departments, while the School of Engineering Practice and Technology (W Booth) delivers interdisciplinary graduate education through hands-on learning and mentorship.
