If you dream of operating your own brokerage or joining a major corporate setting, excelling in the insurance field requires skillful and strategic business management.
The Insurance and Risk Management program combines general business education with specialized insurance courses. You'll learn about management, finance, communications, and accounting, plus focused training in insurance fundamentals, underwriting, and claims processing.
Though typically a two-year program, students can fast-track their education by enrolling in spring and summer sessions between their first and second years. For details about this accelerated path, consult with the School of Business Advisors.
Upon completion, graduates are prepared to take the Insurance Institute of Canada certification exams. The program also covers seven of the ten courses needed for the Chartered Insurance Professional (CIP) designation from the Insurance Institute of Canada (IIC).
Applicants must have a minimum overall average of 65 percent, with no course grade lower than 50 percent, in the following high school courses: ELA 30-1 or ELA 30-2 Mathematics 30-1 or Mathematics 30-2 Three subjects from Group A, B, C, or D
