Laurentian University's Sociology program enables students to investigate these subjects while gaining valuable research skills. This four-year degree is available for full-time, on-campus study. Alternatively, it can be pursued online as a concentration or minor. Students may enhance their qualifications by simultaneously earning either the Social Research Methods Certificate or the Family Life Studies and Human Sexuality Certificate alongside their degree. Sociology examines societal structures, human interactions, and the formation and preservation of social norms.

Applicants require the successful completion of a secondary school diploma with the equivalent course requirements as Ontario applicants listed in the Grade 12 course equivalencies by Province section below.
Applicants from the Province of Quebec require a minimum of one full year of the Collège designment general et professional (CEGEP) program. Those who have completed more than one year of a CEGEP program will be considered for admission with advanced standing.
Applicants from other provinces or territories require a completed Grade 12 with a minimum 70% average.
