This rigorous program is tailored for students holding a bachelor's degree or equivalent qualification. Applied Planning students are united by their enthusiasm and drive to enhance community livability and promote sustainable development.

The Applied Planning curriculum develops practical planning competencies for aspiring professionals in the field. The program focuses on collaborative learning approaches, incorporating real-world case studies, hands-on projects, and essential skills for planning practitioners. Alumni typically secure positions with municipal and regional governments, consulting agencies, and Indigenous communities.

To earn a Post-Degree Diploma in Applied Planning through our 12-month program, students must complete 15 courses. An optional cooperative work placement is also available.

Students must have a Bachelor's Degree (or equivalent).

English Language Requirements

  • A minimum 70% in English First Peoples 12, English Studies 12, or Literary Studies 12;
  • Langara English Test (LET) with a score of 3;
  • An 'S' grade in ENGL 1107 or 1110; or a minimum 'C' grade in ENGL 1120;
  • A minimum 'C-' grade in an English (Post-Secondary Transfer) course;
  • Bachelor's degree or higher from an English-speaking country completed at a recognized institution where the language of instruction is English;
  • IB English A (HL or SL) or IB English Literature and Performance (SL) with a score of 3;
  • AP English Literature and Composition or AP English Language and Composition with a score of 2; or
  • A minimum 'C' grade in GCSE O-Level English, GCSE English Language B
  • English Language Proficiency

    • English for Academic Purposes (EAP) Level IV (LEAP 8);
    • Language Proficiency Index (LPI) with a score of 26;
    • IELTS Academic 6.5 (No Band Lower Than 6.0);
    • Duolingo English Test with a score of 110;
    • TOEFL (IBT) with an overall score of 88, a writing score of 20, a reading score of 20, a listening score of 20, and a speaking score of 20; or
    • CAEL with an overall score of 70 (no band lower than 60).
