The gathering of extensive biological datasets has grown increasingly accessible and cost-effective, transforming biology into a data-driven field. Biological data encompasses genetic sequences, genomes, epigenomes, proteomes, metabolomes, and microbiomes. Analyzing these vast datasets demands advanced computational and statistical techniques. Bioinformatics is a multidisciplinary science that employs computational and statistical approaches to biological data, enabling new discoveries and solving intricate biological challenges.

Since the Human Genome Project's completion in 2003, the identification of numerous disease-related genes has demonstrated the effectiveness of early bioinformatics techniques. Today, bioinformatics tools are commonly applied to investigate disease mechanisms, develop improved therapies, examine biological patterns, and create biological and chemical models.
