The field of Health Sciences encompasses diverse disciplines to enhance human health in all its dimensions. Langara's Health Sciences program emphasizes public health, a medical specialty investigating health disparities across populations while designing solutions to address inequities at local, national, and global levels.
Epidemiology forms the foundation of our program, serving as public health's principal scientific method. This discipline equips professionals with analytical frameworks to assess community health, formulate theories about health variations, validate hypotheses, and create evidence-based interventions.
Addressing health determinants—both positive and negative—demands interdisciplinary collaboration bridging arts and sciences. Effective health scientists must also master communication techniques to transform complex research findings into clear, actionable knowledge for communities.
Students must have a BC Grade 12 Graduation (or equivalent).
