This two-year curriculum equips students for careers assisting individuals with diverse cognitive, physical, social, and emotional challenges. Throughout the program, participants will acquire both theoretical knowledge and hands-on skills to effectively navigate the therapeutic recreation process. Recreation Therapy operates on the principle that play, leisure activities, and recreation are vital components for achieving optimal health, personal wellbeing, and enhanced life quality. Professionals in this field utilize recreational activities as therapeutic interventions to promote healing and wellness by establishing purposeful goals and objectives. The program incorporates volunteer work and practical learning opportunities, including field placements and community engagements, giving students direct experience. These practical components allow students to refine their abilities in assessment, program design, execution, and outcome analysis. The curriculum also offers chances for specialized training during the Recreation Therapy studies. Note that criminal records may affect students' eligibility for certain field placements.
