The Instrumentation & Control Engineering Technician program equips students with practical training and hands-on technical skills to manage and service control system field instruments utilizing digital, pneumatic, and hydraulic technologies. These instruments play a crucial role in industries like oil and gas, petrochemicals, pharmaceuticals, food processing, and manufacturing by measuring and transmitting signals to ensure product quality. Additionally, they regulate environmental conditions in various industrial and commercial facilities. Throughout the program, learners develop expertise in maintaining, troubleshooting, configuring, and calibrating measurement devices (including pneumatic, analog, and digital systems) across simulated industrial environments. Students reinforce classroom instruction through practical experience in Lambton College’s Energy & Bio-Industrial Technologies Centre of Excellence, featuring advanced lab and pilot plant setups. This facility mirrors real-world production settings, with technologies that can be directly adapted to operational units. As automation expands across industries, the demand for skilled instrumentation and control engineering technicians continues to grow.
