The Department of Health Sciences provides an on-campus, thesis-focused Master of Health Sciences (MHSc) program aimed at equipping students with the expertise to conduct supervised research in various health-related fields. By completing core courses and selecting specialized electives, students can cultivate both broad knowledge and focused expertise in their chosen research area. While students may pursue quantitative, qualitative, or mixed-method research approaches, foundational competency in both quantitative and qualitative methodologies is required. The program's flexible design permits elective coursework in research methods or discipline-specific subjects. Applicants with prior training in research methodologies (such as statistics, qualitative research, epidemiology, or general research methods) receive preferential consideration.
Through its curriculum, the Department of Health Sciences explores the multifaceted nature of public health by examining individual, community, and organizational perspectives. Our graduate programs prepare students to become skilled health professionals and researchers capable of improving the wellbeing of Canada's population.
