The Department of Health Sciences provides an on-campus, thesis-focused Master of Health Sciences (MHSc) program aimed at equipping students with the expertise to conduct supervised research within the expansive field of health. By completing core courses and selecting specialized electives, students can cultivate both broad knowledge and focused expertise in their chosen research area. While students may pursue quantitative, qualitative, or mixed-method research approaches, foundational proficiency in both quantitative and qualitative methodologies is required. The program's flexible structure enables students to take electives in research methodologies or discipline-specific subjects. Priority consideration is given to applicants with prior coursework in research methods (e.g., statistics, qualitative research, epidemiology, or general research methodologies).
Through its graduate programs, the Department of Health Sciences fosters a comprehensive understanding of public health complexities by examining individual, community, and organizational perspectives. Our graduates emerge as skilled professionals and health researchers prepared to improve the well-being of Canadians.
