Lakehead University's Graduate Diploma in Accounting (GDA) is a single-semester professional program designed to equip students for pursuing the Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) certification. The GDA complements the Honours Bachelor of Commerce (Accounting Major) by strengthening students' technical abilities and professional skills, fostering improved critical analysis, problem-solving, ethical decision-making, and communication capabilities.
This CPA Ontario-accredited program grants students direct entry into the CPA Professional Education Program (CPA PEP) with advanced standing. GDA graduates bypass Core 1, Core 2, and all elective modules, starting directly at the Capstone 1 level. The GDA offers an accelerated pathway to CPA certification. Eligible applicants include Lakehead's Honours Bachelor of Commerce graduates who've completed required coursework, as well as accounting graduates from other Canadian universities who meet all CPA PEP prerequisites through either their degree program or CPA Preparatory courses.
