The Chemistry and Materials Science PhD program offers rigorous research training with two specialization tracks: Physical Chemistry, exploring the fundamental physical laws behind chemical systems; and Molecular and Materials Science, focusing on creating and analyzing new compounds and materials.
Participants must finish the program in 3-4 years (9-12 terms) of continuous full-time study, with a mandatory three-term residency period that includes at least two consecutive terms.

Qualification Requirements

Applicants for admission must be graduates of a recognized university and show evidence of scholarly achievement. Except where otherwise stated in the Admission Requirements of a particular program, students must have a Masters degree or its equivalent with an academic average as specified by the academic unit. An applicant holding a degree other than one in the discipline area to which admission is sought will be considered on the basis of Master's courses taken and academic standing.

Normally, an applicant to the Program would be expected to have completed a Master's Degree in one of the fields of specialization (Physical Chemistry, or, Molecular and Materials Science). Applicants who do not have a Master's degree will be considered on a case-by-case basis and, if admitted, may have additional course requirements.

IELTS - Minimum Score: 6.5 (no individual score less than 6.0).
TOEFL - Minimum Score for Internet Based Test (iBT): 80 (no component score less than 19).Minimum Score for Computer Based Test (cBT): 213 (no component score less than 17. Minimum Score for Paper Based Test (pBT) when Speaking is present: 550 (no component score less than 50.The revised pBT is not accepted as Speaking is no longer a category.
