The Forestry program within the Faculty of Natural Resources Management offers comprehensive training in the biological, social, and operational aspects of forestry and its connection to ecosystems. You'll develop essential business acumen, scientific knowledge, and hands-on experience to address contemporary conservation and sustainability issues. For the initial two years, our Honours Bachelor of Science in Forestry follows the same core curriculum as the Honours Bachelor of Science in Environmental Management. Specialization options allow you to focus on Forest Management, Forest Health and Protection, or the growing field of Forest Products and Marketing. Experience cutting-edge forest management technologies including GPS/GIS systems, 3D visualization tools, remote sensing with satellite and drone (UAV) imagery, and genetic research.
Our program holds national accreditation from the Canadian Forestry Accreditation Board, qualifying graduates for membership in various professional forestry associations nationwide. After completing the program, you'll qualify for the Registered Professional Forester (RPD) designation and membership in the Canadian Institute of Forestry. This exclusive benefit, unique to Lakehead University, gives graduates a significant professional edge.
