The Forestry program within the Faculty of Natural Resources Management equips students with comprehensive knowledge of forestry's biological, social, and operational aspects and their connection to ecosystems. You'll develop essential business acumen, scientific proficiency, and hands-on training to address contemporary conservation and sustainability issues. For the initial two years, our Honours Bachelor of Science in Forestry follows the same core curriculum as the Honours Bachelor of Science in Environmental Management. Students can then specialize in Forest Management, Forest Health and Protection, or the growing field of Forest Products and Marketing. The program incorporates cutting-edge forest management technologies such as GPS/GIS systems, 3D visualization tools, satellite-based remote sensing, drone (UAV) applications, and genetic research.
Our program holds national accreditation from the Canadian Forestry Accreditation Board, ensuring graduates meet the academic standards for professional forestry associations nationwide. Completing the program qualifies you for the Registered Professional Forester (RPD) designation and membership in the Canadian Institute of Forestry. This exclusive benefit, unique to Lakehead University, offers graduates a significant professional edge.
