As an urban forestry technician, you'll need both technical expertise and strong interpersonal skills to collaborate with diverse communities. Your role will encompass addressing the interconnected social, economic, environmental, and conservation challenges of urban green spaces. This distinctive two-year program combines hands-on training with interdisciplinary learning to equip students for this growing profession. Graduates will develop skills to: Recognize and evaluate various urban tree species Promote tree health through knowledge of plant biology and growth patterns Advise on proper tree care techniques Utilize GIS and spatial analysis tools to assess urban forest features Comprehend soil properties, water systems, and wildlife interactions within urban ecosystems Operate and maintain arboricultural equipment safely and effectively.
