Bioinformatics applies information technology to molecular biology research. Being a relatively recent academic discipline, we're among only a handful of Canadian universities providing this program starting in first year. Our Bioinformatics Department combines methodologies and concepts from multiple fields such as: Mathematics, Computer Science, Biology, Chemistry, and Physics.
From creating innovative pharmaceutical treatments to interpreting genetic codes or engineering software for medical imaging analysis, Bioinformatics professionals tackle challenges in biological data interpretation. As a Bioinformatics student, you'll pioneer in this rapidly growing field that significantly influences how we address critical worldwide concerns like healthcare and environmental sustainability. International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme applicants who achieve their diploma with a total score of at least 24 may be eligible for admission. Three Higher Level subjects must be completed. Prerequisite courses can be presented at either Standard Level or Higher Level. Meeting the minimum admission requirements does not guarantee admission. Some of our competitive programs may require a total score greater than 24.
