The Bachelor of Traditional Chinese Medicine (BTCM) is a 10-term program designed to equip students for professional practice. After completing six semesters, students qualify as Acupuncturists, and after all ten semesters, they become Traditional Chinese Medicine Practitioners. The BTCM curriculum meets the academic standards set by British Columbia's regulatory authority, the College of Traditional Chinese Medicine Practitioners and Acupuncturists (CTCMA), enabling graduates to pursue licensure immediately after completing their studies, provided they fulfill other non-academic criteria. Students have the option to finish just the initial six semesters and earn a Diploma in Traditional Chinese Medicine – Acupuncture (an existing KPU qualification) or complete the full program for the BTCM degree. Those with the Acupuncture Diploma can transfer all 86 credits toward the BTCM program, offering practicing Acupuncturists a pathway to expand their qualifications and practice as full Traditional Chinese Medicine Practitioners.
In addition to the Faculty's Admission Requirements, which consist of KPU's undergraduate English Proficiency Requirement, the following program admission requirements apply:
Once students have received a conditional offer of admission and before final admission to the program is granted, students must submit the following:
Admission selection will be determined by the date of qualification.
Applicants that have completed a recognized Acupuncture/Traditional Chinese Medicine Diploma, or who are practicing Registered Acupuncturists, may be provided with advanced standing.
