The Bachelor of Arts with a Major in Asian Studies equips you with the skills of a classic BA while preparing you to navigate our interconnected global landscape. This four-year interdisciplinary program provides practical abilities for engaging with diverse local communities while cultivating the knowledge needed to thrive in a world where East and South Asian nations play growing roles.
As an Asian Studies student, your first year introduces foundational courses about the discipline and the regions of East and South Asia. These classes develop essential critical thinking, communication, and cross-cultural skills for advanced study. In subsequent years, specialized courses offer deeper exploration of these regions' societies, cultures, governments, economies, and histories, along with their global relationships, including connections with Canada.
You have graduated high school (secondary school) OR completed 24+ credits of undergraduate-level credits with a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.0.
English Proficiency Requirements
International English Language Testing System (IELTS) Academic Test: overall band of 6.5 or higher, with a minimum 6.0 in each band, taken within the last two years from the term of admission
Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL): IBT 88 or higher, with no sub score less than 20, taken within the last two years from the term of admission
Canadian Academic English Language Assessment (CAEL): Score of 70 or higher with no sub score less than 60, taken within the last two years from the term of admission
Pearson Test of English (PTE): Score of 61 or higher, taken within the last two years from the term of admission
Language Proficiency Index (LPI): Level 5 with an essay score of 30 or higher, taken within the last two years from the term of admission.
