The Japanese Program offers students a chance to immerse themselves in both the language and rich cultural traditions of Japan. Through language study, learners build essential communication abilities including speaking, reading, and writing contemporary Japanese.
Beginning courses establish core competencies in conversation, listening comprehension, and reading skills. Advanced students refine their ability to interpret genuine modern texts and communicate in formal settings. Cultural studies courses, conducted in English, cover diverse topics from cinema and literature to popular culture, societal issues, and Japan's international role.
Study abroad opportunities allow direct engagement with Japan's linguistic subtleties and cultural depth, fostering intercultural awareness and preparing students to address modern challenges as thoughtful global citizens.
Please note: Admission to newly established programs occurs only following completion of the university's quality review procedures and final approval from the Ontario Universities Council on Quality Assurance.
