South Asia is home to almost 25% of the global population, ranking among the world's most crowded regions. This vibrant area encompasses countless religions, traditions, ethnic groups, and languages, with a history of cultural exchange spanning millennia that offers valuable insights for modern times.

Studying South Asia's colonial past, independence movements, social justice initiatives, cultural diversity, and economic systems can provide fresh perspectives on similar issues in Canada. When you investigate South Asia's impact on Western culture - from yoga practices to mindfulness techniques and Buddhist philosophy - you'll question your assumptions and encounter new ways of thinking.

Dive into the study of Hinduism, Islam, Buddhism, Sikhism, and Jainism, along with South Asian interpretations of Christianity, Judaism, Zoroastrianism, and Sufism while learning languages like Urdu, Hindi, Bengali, Tamil, Tibetan, or Sanskrit. Take advantage of Concordia International's exchange programs to live in South Asia, or immerse yourself in Montreal's South Asian scene through its cuisine, places of worship, and cultural events while building relationships with local community members.
