The Thanatology department provides an extensive selection of courses covering topics such as bereavement fundamentals, ethical dilemmas, end-of-life care, suicide studies, childhood perspectives on mortality, spiritual and philosophical considerations, life transitions, death in media, trauma-related grief, and social justice approaches. Undergraduate students can enroll in a practicum featuring a 45-hour fieldwork component, along with a grief counseling course that emphasizes hands-on training in essential counseling techniques.
Since 1976, King's University College has maintained its pioneering Death Education curriculum, with over 4,000 students having completed our specialized courses on mortality and loss.
Established in 1994 through collaboration with Western University's Centre for Continuing Studies, the Grief and Bereavement Studies certificate program now primarily delivers courses through online (email-based) distance learning. This program remains one of fewer than ten comparable offerings across North America.
Student must have a High school degree.
English language requirements:
IELTS Academic is required with a minimum overall band score of 6.5 with no part less than 6.0.
TOEFL score of 580 or higher and a score of 4.5 on the TWE or a score of 85-90 on Internet Based Test (IBT) with no section less than 20.
C.A.E.L. (Canadian Academic English Language Assessment) - A minimum score of 60 is required with no part less than 60.
(PTE Academic) - A minimum overall score of 58 is required with no score less than 56.
DUOLINGO A minimum score of 115 overall with a minimum of 100 for each subscore.
Cambridge C1 Advanced or C2 Proficiency: A minimum overall score of 176, with a minimum of 169 in each section.
