The Childhood and Youth Studies (CYS) program examines frequently underestimated capabilities of children, challenging conventional perspectives on childhood while investigating the evolving role of children and childhood experiences both in Canada and globally. Our curriculum critically analyzes societal structures affecting children, including family environments, educational systems, and judicial frameworks. Central to our coursework are themes of youth advocacy, children's rights, and their capacity for autonomous action. Learners will expand their expertise in this field while developing analytical skills for social and historical contexts, along with insights into children's lived experiences.
The CYS curriculum concentrates on two fundamental domains: rights and advocacy, alongside legal and policy frameworks. Students may explore either or both concentrations to broaden their understanding.
