Humber's Occupational Therapist Assistant and Physiotherapist Assistant (OTA and PTA) diploma program pioneered formal education for OTAs and PTAs in Ontario and maintains its commitment to excellence. Students gain skills to support the execution of rehabilitation plans designed to enhance clients' independence, daily activities, and functional abilities. The curriculum emphasizes restoring and optimizing physical capabilities and occupational performance, empowering clients to effectively engage in movement, daily tasks, and meaningful activities while supporting their holistic health.
People may need occupational therapy or physiotherapy rehabilitation for various reasons. Beyond general health promotion, these services help individuals resume daily routines and work after incidents like falls, car accidents, sports injuries, spinal cord trauma, strokes, mental health challenges, or chronic conditions such as cystic fibrosis and diabetes. Graduates can pursue careers in diverse settings including hospitals, rehabilitation centers, long-term care facilities, and private clinics.
