Wildlife Conservation Technology merges outdoor adventures with academic studies. The curriculum covers plant and animal ecosystems, environmental chemistry, mapping techniques, canoe safety protocols, advanced wilderness first aid, and wildlife conservation strategies. Field camps provide hands-on experience, including habitat assessments, nocturnal wildlife surveys, visits to parks and rehabilitation centers, and studying human-wildlife relationships. Students complete 160 hours of practical training and participate in annual songbird banding initiatives, aiding regional and international migration research. This program can be paired with Conservation Enforcement studies to pursue a career as a conservation officer or serve as a pathway to UPEI's Bachelor in Wildlife Conservation degree. Recognized by the North American Wildlife Technology Association, graduates earn continent-wide certification as Wildlife Technicians, receiving an official accreditation certificate upon completion.
