The curriculum focuses on developing competencies in interviewing techniques, interpersonal dynamics, group collaboration, family support systems, and data-informed practices. Instructors maintain a dedication to educational approaches that foster diversity and belonging, with particular attention to Indigenous perspectives and aging-related concerns. Learners can participate in hands-on experiences through community initiatives and practical placements. Career Prospects Alumni acquire a foundation in ethical principles that support individual and collective growth while fulfilling the academic prerequisites for Social Service Worker registration in Ontario. Graduates find employment across various sectors including mental health organizations, public institutions, and charitable entities. Key professional pathways involve services for youth and families, shelter operations, mental health and accessibility support, career development initiatives, elder care programs, residential services, and educational support systems.
Applicants must hold OSSD or equivalent with Grade 12 English (C or U).
Mature students, non-secondary school applicants (19 years or older), and home school applicants may also be considered for admission. Eligibility may be met by applicants who have taken equivalent courses, upgrading, completed their GED, and equivalency testing.
