This program equips students with skills in organizing, assessing, and managing social health services for Indigenous communities. The curriculum combines business studies with community development, highlighting the incorporation of cultural, social, and health considerations important to Indigenous populations in Canada. Daily activities incorporate cultural practices like smudging and teachings, woven into social events, coursework, and sessions with Traditional Teacher-Elders. (Note: The term Indigenous encompasses First Nations, Métis, Inuit, and Non-Status individuals). Graduates will be qualified for administrative and support roles in settings including health centers, educational institutions, social service agencies, healing facilities, and mental health organizations.
Applicants must hold OSSD or equivalent with Grade 12 English (C or U).
Mature students, non-secondary school applicants (19 years or older), and home school applicants may also be considered for admission. Eligibility may be met by applicants who have taken equivalent courses, upgrading, completed their GED, and equivalency testing.
