Every September, a select cohort of students embarks on a nine-month Interdisciplinary Design Strategy program at the Brookfield Sustainability Institute (BSI), collaborating to develop and implement real-world projects. The BSI's innovative Interdisciplinary Design Strategy Program (IDSP) employs a design-focused educational approach that encourages cross-disciplinary learning, combining specialized expertise while overcoming geographical, cultural, and societal divides. Students face the challenges of authentic projects alongside the intellectual and creative demands needed to execute them. Annually in September, a limited number of participants start the IDSP graduate certificate program, working collectively to investigate, conceptualize, and bring tangible projects to life. Launched in 2003 under BSI's forerunner, the Institute Without Boundaries (IwB), this initiative explores design research methodologies, strategic thinking, and social innovation. This distinctive educational opportunity is provided by George Brown College in collaboration with top designers and industry partners.
