The Sustainable Agriculture program offers aspiring farmers an immersive, hands-on education in eco-friendly and natural farming techniques. In this program, participants will: Gain insights from seasoned farmers through classroom instruction, on-site farm visits, and expert panels. Create personalized business strategies and agricultural plans. Explore core concepts of sustainable farming and small-scale operation success. Experience dynamic, collaborative learning sessions.
The curriculum emphasizes ecological conservation, economic sustainability for farmers, social ethics, and public wellbeing. The 16-week summer cooperative program provides specialized training opportunities. Past participants have completed co-ops at domestic and international farms, as well as with urban food initiatives and agricultural advocacy organizations.
Program alumni have launched independent small farms, joined nonprofit agricultural groups, and taken leadership roles in farmers' markets. Additional career paths include: developing farm-based tourism and regional food systems, overseeing community garden projects, and directing farm-to-school initiatives.
