The Trade Fundamentals program offers an introductory selection of entry-level trades courses and skills, giving you essential knowledge for further trades education. Discover the range of skilled trades programs available at Fleming College and complete your studies with clearer insights into potential career paths. You'll also enhance your fundamental math, communication, and science abilities, preparing you for success in any trades program you select. If you enter the workforce immediately after finishing the Trade Fundamentals program, you would start at an entry-level position and would need additional training to advance in your chosen field.
By earning another certificate or diploma, you can develop more focused expertise and expand your job opportunities. With well-documented shortages in the skilled trades workforce, choosing a trades career provides excellent employment prospects. Students in this program may pursue the Indigenous Perspectives Designation (IPD). To earn an IPD, you must complete specific Indigenous Studies courses and participate in at least four approved co-curricular Indigenous activities. Upon graduation, your transcript will reflect the IPD, demonstrating your thorough understanding of Indigenous cultures, histories, traditions, and societal contributions within your field of study. This designation equips you with valuable skills that are highly desirable in today's job market.
