The Community Integration through Co-operative Education (CICE) program offers people with exceptional needs and significant learning difficulties the chance to experience college while building crucial skills for employment, daily living, and education. This two-year initiative helps participants develop both academic and career-related abilities tailored for those with special learning requirements.
Participants engage in foundational classes covering interpersonal communication, workplace competencies, daily living strategies, digital literacy, and personal wellbeing. With guidance from Learning Facilitators, students also take adapted courses from selected Fleming diploma programs (availability may vary) in fields like Business, Early Childhood Education, Recreation and Leisure, or Hospitality. These specially adjusted classes accommodate diverse learning styles while helping CICE students gain practical knowledge. The program includes work placements to refine abilities, cultivate key job skills like punctuality, foster independence and confidence, and explore career aspirations.
