Participants choose from five specialized study areas and undertake three practical placements in their chosen field. Graduates earn a CICE Certificate upon completing the program.
This two-year post-secondary certificate program, Community Integration Through Cooperative Education (CICE), supports adults with developmental disabilities, brain injuries, intellectual disabilities, and similar learning challenges. It combines academic skill-building through regular college courses with hands-on career development via field placements.
Students specialize in one of five focus areas: Culinary Arts, Photography, Recreation and Leisure, Early Childhood Education, or Office Administration. The curriculum includes eleven specialized courses, six core CICE seminars, and three field placements spread over two years. Successful graduates receive an Ontario College Certificate in CICE from Fanshawe College, gaining practical experience that can help them secure employment in their chosen field.
