The Pre-Technology program is a one-year Ontario College Certificate designed to assist students in navigating career decisions. This curriculum explores diverse technological fields, equipping learners for future academic pursuits. Completing this program reveals multiple educational pathways across different disciplines.
Selecting a profession in science, trades, or technology presents challenges. The Pre-Technology program provides the necessary time and support to confidently identify suitable career options from numerous possibilities.
This dynamic one-year certificate program offers immersion in various technological domains while preparing students for their next academic move. Through practical learning methods, participants examine multiple tech subjects including AutoCAD, applied electronics, welding, machining, software applications, workplace safety, physics, and transportation systems.
Fanshawe's Pre-Technology graduates gain comprehensive practical knowledge to make well-informed choices about advanced technology programs. Throughout the program, students investigate numerous technological areas such as AutoCAD, electronic applications, metal joining techniques, precision machining, digital tools, occupational safety, physical sciences, and mobility technologies.
OSSD with courses from the College (C), University (U), University/College (M), or Open (O) stream OR Academic and Career Entrance Certificate (ACE) OR Ontario High School Equivalency Certificate (GED) OR Mature Applicant with appropriate preparation.
Applicants whose first language is not English will be required to demonstrate proficiency in English by one of the following methods:
A Grade 12 College Stream or University Stream English credit from an Ontario Secondary School, or equivalent, depending on the program's Admission Requirements
Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) test with a minimum score of 550 for the paper-based test (PBT), or 79 for the Internet-based test (iBT), with test results within the last two years
International English Language Testing System (IELTS) test with an overall score of 6.0 with no score less than 5.5 in any of the four bands, with test results within the last two years
Pearson Test of English Academic (PTE) with a minimum score of 53, with test results within the last two years
A Cambridge English Test (FCE/CAE/CPE) with an overall score on the Cambridge English Scale of 169 with no language skill less than 162, with test results within the last two years
