The Personal Support Worker program consists of three levels culminating in an Ontario College Certificate. Graduates emerge as entry-level caregivers equipped with the expertise, abilities, and professional mindset to deliver personal care and household management services across both community and institutional environments. The curriculum starts by establishing a solid foundation in caregiving principles, covering topics like health and wellness, human anatomy and physiology, plus mental health considerations and life transition concepts.
Beyond theoretical learning, you'll gain hands-on experience through placements in long-term care institutions and community settings, acquiring practical skills while assisting real clients. These immersive experiences ensure you enter the workforce with substantial practical knowledge. The program also incorporates simulation-based training. Career opportunities include providing personal care in retirement residences, long-term care centers, hospitals, and home care settings.
