The Business Fundamentals certificate program teaches core concepts of business operations, professional communication, business math, accounting, and marketing. Students will complete coursework in client relations and workplace communication while enhancing their technical and numerical abilities. The program provides essential knowledge to confidently begin a business career or pursue further business education.
Business Fundamentals is a one-year Ontario College Certificate that develops core business competencies. This program benefits learners seeking to strengthen basic skills (mathematics, writing, communication) before starting a two-year business diploma; professionals returning to work; and international students.
Since the program's second term largely mirrors the introductory semester of all two-year diploma programs at the Lawrence Kinlin School of Business, graduates can seamlessly transition into the second term of any business diploma or pursue entry-level employment opportunities.

Applicants whose first language is not English will be required to demonstrate proficiency in English by one of the following methods:
- A Grade 12 College Stream or University Stream English credit from an Ontario Secondary School, or equivalent, depending on the program's Admission Requirements
- Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) test with a minimum score of 61 for the Internet-based test (iBT), with test results within the last two years
- International English Language Testing System (IELTS) test with an overall score of 5.5 with no score less than 5.0 in any of the four bands, with test results within the last two years
- Canadian Academic English Language (CAEL) test with an overall score of 50 with no score less than 50 in any of the four bands, with test results within the last two years
- Pearson Test of English Academic (PTE) with a minimum score of 47, with test results within the last two years
