The Specialist (Co-operative) Program in Management and International Business (MIB) integrates academic coursework with paid professional placements across public and private sectors through its Work Integrated Learning (WIL) approach. Students gain practical experience in diverse fields including accounting, public administration, communications, economic development, finance, human resources, information systems, marketing, policy development, strategic planning, and entrepreneurship, tailored to their skills and organizational needs.
This specialized co-op program offers comprehensive training across all management disciplines while cultivating a global business perspective. The curriculum includes mandatory language development and specialized international business courses. Students develop cross-cultural communication and leadership skills through rigorous academic programming and international practical experiences, while maintaining strong analytical and quantitative foundations. The program allows flexibility for either a broad management education or concentrated study in specific disciplines through elective choices.
Following a trimester system with Fall, Winter, and Summer sessions, students alternate between academic semesters and work placements over four years until completing degree requirements. The program structure includes eight academic semesters and three professional work terms, with mandatory international components requiring at least one work term and one study term abroad. Students typically commence with three to five consecutive study terms before beginning the work-study rotation, always completing their degree with a final academic semester.
