This three-year co-op Ontario College Advanced Diploma in Fashion Design offers specialized training in apparel development, production management, and marketing strategies. Students gain practical experience through classroom instruction, laboratory work, industry excursions, and work placements while building professional connections that enhance career prospects. The curriculum focuses on design evaluation, garment manufacturing technologies, and effective design communication strategies.
Students cultivate expertise in creative conceptualization, visual presentation techniques, business marketing principles, and apparel production methods. The program also teaches essential technical skills including fashion sketching, CAD software, pattern development, fabric draping, and clothing assembly. The final year features a comprehensive capstone project where students design, create, and showcase an original collection.
Throughout the program, students apply their knowledge through laboratory sessions, industry visits, work placements, and diverse research projects. The curriculum covers fundamental techniques like fashion drawing, digital design, pattern creation, fabric manipulation, and garment assembly, complemented by studies in textile science, fashion history, production methods, and industry-specific computer applications. This program nurtures creative problem-solving abilities, equipping students to thrive in the ever-evolving global fashion landscape.
Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD), or equivalent, or a mature applicant with the following courses:
- Grade 12 English (C or U)
- Grade 11 or 12 Math (C, M or U) - MCT4C preferred
Students who do not meet these requirements are recommended for academic upgrading. A conditional offer may be possible with proof of enrolment. Alternatively, applicants may choose to do the one-year Design Foundations preparatory program in order to meet all the admission requirements.
English language requirement -  TOEFL iBT 79, IELTS Academic Overall score of 6.0 with no score less than 5.5 in any of the four bands; CAEL - Overall score of 60 with no score less than 50 in any of the four bands. score of 80 in listening, PTE Academic 53.
