This program is tailored for individuals pursuing careers as clinician-scientists while specializing in clinical practice. It enables MD graduates to focus mainly on thesis research within Medical Sciences, creating a connection between clinical and fundamental medical research. The curriculum also includes clinical research training.
Students must complete at least a half-credit course in the discipline most closely related to their research topic. Further coursework may be necessary to build the foundational knowledge needed for thesis work. Participation in Journal Clubs and Seminar series, including regular presentations and attendance, is mandatory to establish a solid understanding of experimental methodologies.

Applicants must have
- First-class thesis Master’s degree or its equivalent
- Minimum grade point average (GPA) of 3.0 (B average) in the last 60 credit hours of study
- Degree granted by university of recognized standing
- Most candidates for admission to a doctoral program possess a Master's Degree. Direct entry to some programs is possible for those with exceptional academic standing

- Dalhousie College of Continuing Education (CCE): A-
