Dalhousie University's Biological Engineering Program provides diverse specialization areas including biological waste management, biorobotics, agricultural and aquacultural engineering, food processing systems, sustainable energy solutions, greenhouse energy efficiency, and environmental pollution control. For MASc and PhD candidates, the curriculum combines a research thesis with four academic courses and participation in graduate seminars. The MEng program, designed as a Professional Engineering qualification, offers two pathways: either five additional courses beyond the MASc requirements plus seminar participation, or three extra courses accompanied by both seminar involvement and a practical project.

Applicants must have
- First-class thesis Master’s degree or its equivalent
- Minimum grade point average (GPA) of 3.0 (B average) in the last 60 credit hours of study
- Degree granted by university of recognized standing
- Most candidates for admission to a doctoral program possess a Master's Degree. Direct entry to some programs is possible for those with exceptional academic standing

- CAEL: 70 with no band score lower than 60
- Dalhousie College of Continuing Education (CCE): A-
