Pursuing the Diploma in Meteorology (D.Met.) at Dalhousie lets you deeply investigate your passion for weather and atmospheric processes.
Dalhousie's unique one-year Meteorology Diploma, the sole program of its type in Atlantic Canada, provides comprehensive training in atmospheric sciences - equipping you for forecasting careers or advanced graduate studies. You can opt for this one-year DMet after finishing a three-year Bachelor of Science (BSc) in Physics, Mathematics, Chemistry, or other quantitative disciplines within the Faculty of Science. Alternatively, incorporate the DMet into a four-year BSc with a Physics Major. To earn your DMet at Dalhousie, you'll complete nine core courses:
Fundamentals of Atmospheric Science
Physics of the Atmosphere
Synoptic Meteorology I and II
Atmospheric Dynamics I and II
Ocean Physics
Chemistry of the Atmosphere
along with Light Scattering, Radiation Transfer, and Remote Sensing
