This specialized two-year graduate certificate program is designed for internationally trained nurses with a four-year bachelor's degree in nursing. The curriculum helps you gain crucial nursing competencies needed to work in Canada's healthcare system, particularly focusing on senior care across various settings. You'll be taught by seasoned nursing educators in dynamic learning spaces, including nursing laboratories and advanced simulation environments. The program emphasizes cultivating professional skills such as patient assessment, care interventions, treatment planning, critical thinking, and evidence-based decision making. Developed in alignment with the College of Nurses of Ontario's professional standards and RN practice requirements, the program uses multiple assessment approaches like academic writing, case analyses, projects, presentations, and simulated clinical scenarios. Practical application occurs through clinical placements in diverse healthcare environments such as medical, surgical, complex continuing care, and long-term care facilities. The program offers substantial clinical training, featuring more than 400 hours of hands-on experience. To prepare for licensure exams, you'll also complete NCLEX and OSCE preparation courses.
