Civil engineering encompasses the planning, building, and upkeep of urban infrastructure to meet the demands of expanding populations. As a professional in this discipline, you'll contribute to developing subdivisions, road networks, water management systems, sanitation facilities, waste disposal sites, and various structures.
Conestoga College's Civil Engineering Technology program offers a comprehensive three-year advanced diploma (with optional cooperative education) that blends theoretical civil engineering knowledge with practical experience through laboratory work and field applications.
Throughout the program, students will:
develop systems for potable water distribution, wastewater treatment, and stormwater control;
execute structural designs using wood, steel, masonry, and concrete materials;
perform laboratory and field testing on soils, roadways, and construction materials;
master contemporary surveying technologies (including GPS) and implement them in land development initiatives;
produce technical drawings for civil engineering projects using AutoCAD and Civil 3D software;
examine roadway, highway, and transportation infrastructure design principles; and
apply their civil engineering expertise in a culminating capstone project collaborating with industry professionals.
